Charlotte Thompson
England’s Charlotte Thompson shot the low round of her career to tie with overnight leader, Daisy Nielsen after the second day of the CitizenGuard LETAS Trophy at Royal Waterloo in Lasne, Belgium.
Both players are seven under par for the tournament, Thompson shooting a second round 66, 7 under and Nielsen adding a one under par, 72, to her opening 67 on the first day.
Thompson is enjoying the La Marache course at Royal Waterloo and plans to play the course aggressively on the final day.
“I don’t think I will hold back on anything. No point protecting it out there… you can go for it. And just be sensible and do what I did today, missing in the right spots, that’s important around here.”
One shot back at 6 under are Finland’s Krista Bakker and Anne Van Dam from the Netherlands, who both shot 70’s.
Justine Dreher (67) from France and Spanish amateur Luna Sobron (70) are tied for 5th place at 4 under par.
Amateur Leslie Cloots was one of three Belgian players to make the final day’s cut, which fell at 4 over par. The highlight of Cloots’ round was a hole in one on the par three 4th hole with a 5 iron from 160 metres.
Forty professionals and 10 amateurs made the cut, which fell at 4 over par.
