New LETAS Tournament Announced in Ukraine

The GolfStream Ladies Open will take place at Kiev Golf Club on May 21-23, 2012, with a Pro-Am tournament at the venue on May 20.

Di Barnard, Tour Director, said that the event marked a significant development for the LET Access Series, which was launched in 2010 as a feeder tour to the Ladies European Tour.

“The GolfStream Ladies Open will be the first ever elite women’s golf tournament in Ukraine, the second largest country in Europe, and naturally we are thrilled to be breaking new ground by bringing some of the world’s most promising female golfers to the region,” she said.

“LETAS is experiencing tremendous growth at present and we thank GolfStream and Kiev Golf Club for believing in our great product. It is an exciting time for the Tour and our presence in Ukraine will bring increased awareness of women’s golf as well as the fantastic facilities that the country has on offer.”

A field of up to 120 competitors will play the 54-hole stroke play event, which carries a minimum prize fund of €20,000.

About the LET Access Series:

The LET Access Series (LETAS) is the official feeder tour to the Ladies European Tour providing greater playing opportunities for female professional golfers. All female professional golfers and amateurs (18 years old and up) with a handicap of 3 or better are eligible for membership of LETAS. The top players will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour or, depending on their position in the LETAS Ranking, will have the opportunity to progress to the final stage of LET Qualifying School.
