Laura Murray
Scotland’s Laura Murray opened with a 2 under par, 70, to start strongly in the Kristianstad Åhus Ladies PGA Open in Sweden, to lead by two shots.
Murray, teeing off from the 1st, opened with five straight pars, on the challenging Kristianstad course, before a birdie on the par three 6th hole and an eagle on the par five 8th took the 25 year-old fom Aberdeen, to 3 under par, on a sunny and breezy day. The former Scottish amateur champion’s only bogey came at the par four 16th hole.
Seven players, Denmark’s Nanna Koerstz Madsen, Jess Wilcox from England, Italian Anna Rossi, Maria Beautell from Spain, Belgian Lien Willems and Swedes Anna Svenstrup and Emma Nilsson, all shot opening rounds of 72, even par, to be tied in second place.
The second round continues tomorrow at 8.00am with a cut to the top 40 professionals and ties after 36 holes.
