MUEHLBAUER SECURES WIRE-TO-WIRE VICTORY IN SWEDEN

Austria’s Katharina Muehlbauer secured a wire-to-wire victory in Sweden after carding rounds of 66,68,71 and 74 across two courses, Landeryd Masters and Landeryd Vasterby Links.

The 27-year-old battled it out on final day at Masters as she saw her six-shot lead being chased down but a birdie on the fourth hole and a dramatic walk-off birdie on the 18th secured Muehlbauer the win by a comfortable three shots.

Speaking about the win, Muehlbauer said: “It means everything to me. It was a tough day out there today. I’m not going to lie. Obviously, I thought about, like, the win, but at the same time, I didn’t want to look too much like, into the future.

“It was just a hassle out there and, in the end, making the last putt, finally a birdie, and finally winning again on tour is just amazing.”

This marks Muehlbauer’s first win back on Tour since 2023 where she secured victory at the Trust Golf Links Series at Ramside Hall.

“Knowing that I have a win now in my pocket is just taking off so much stress and it’s just shows me that the last couple of months, I have done the right thing, I worked the right way. I made the right decisions and that it all came together.”

Muehlbauer changed coach at the end of last season and credits new coach Christoph Bausek with a lot of the good changes.

This win also marks the first time LETAS has seen a wire-to-wire victory across four rounds.

“I’m speechless. To be honest, I’m proud of myself and what I’ve achieved over these four days. Four days is also longer than expected.

“Yesterday I was lying in bed and I was thinking that normally it’s already over and I still have to fight 18 holes.”

Muehlbauer plans to celebrate with her friends on Tour. This win may go down as the most popular this year with many other players coming out to support Muehlbauer today and give her eighteenth hole hugs.

“I obviously want to call my own family and Max but maybe we celebrate at Ikea today.

“It’s probably going to be a good dinner with all the girls, and, just celebrate with them. They are just not competitors. They are good friends of mine as well. So, I’m really looking forward to having someone to celebrate with today. I’ve always had a good season.”

With this win Muehlbauer now leads the Order of Merit by just less than 200 points after three other top 10 finishes this season, including two runner-ups.

“My goal now is to obviously get as many points as possible, and I would not lie if I’m saying, obviously I want more wins. But I have to say, like, at the end of the year, I just want to be in those seven spots.

“I want to have the card guaranteed. If I can wish for something. I don’t want to play the last event. I don’t like the course and, Max’s sister is having the wedding currently, so I really want to attend that. So that was an extra little push for me to keep going.

“Let’s see what the season brings. It’s still like I don’t know, like half of the season over or not. Not even. So, I’m really looking forward to competing and playing again next week.”

Sweden’s Lousia Carlbom made a fantastic final day push to card three-under to sit in solo second.

Stanford Cardinal athlete and local talent Meja Ortengren sits solo third on three-under-par.

Whilst three players tied for fourth, Swedish amateurs Elin Pudas Remler and Johanna Sjursen and Germany’s Hannah Karg.

Meanwhile England’s Gemma Clews and Charlotte Heath alongside South Korea’s Hyeonji Kang rounded out the top 10 on par.

England’s Gemma Clews still sits third on the Order of Merit but has narrowed the gap to Denmark’s Amalie Leth-Nissen to 63.92 points.

LETAS now heads closer to the country’s capital to Golf Uppsala Soderby for the Swedish Strokeplay championship by Dormy Future Stars.

Our second event in Sweden starts on July 9 and will see 132 players tee it up across 54 holes of golf for a €45,000 pound prize fund.
