MUEHLBAUER FEELING CALM AFTER MOVING TO NUMBER ONE SPOT ON LETAS ORDER OF MERIT

Muehlbauer

Austria’s Katharina Muehlbauer is excited to sit at the top of the LETAS Order of Merit for the first time in her four year career on LETAS.

Last week, the 27-year-old led the field from start to finish to secure a two-shot victory and clinch her second LETAS title, the first since 2023.

Speaking about the aftermath of winning, Muehlbauer said: “We didn’t get to celebrate properly. A bunch of us went to Max and just ate fast food but we really enjoyed it.

“I was lying on my bed looking at all the congratulations messages and it took me probably six hours to reply to everyone.

“A lot of people who I had no idea were following me and looking at my journey. It was just amazing. It was overwhelming.”

This week Muehlbauer is riding the wave of success. Whilst she wants to keep up the momentum she’s feeling calm and relaxed ahead of this week.

“I’m feeling a bit more chilled now. I know that I have a lot of points already and if the week goes well that’s great but there is no pressure to make it go great.

“The course plays long and with the wind it will be difficult and different to last week where the course was shorter.

“Yet I’m really looking forward to the week. The course is in a great shape, the greens are good, and the fairways are great.”

Muehlbauer has fallen short of earning an LET card the last few seasons on tour, placing 19th, 10th, 11th and 10th again in the last four years.

Now Muehlbauer has earned the number one spot for the first time in her career.

The Order of Merit as it stands

“It’s amazing. It’s something I’ve always wanted and pictured. I was not expecting to be on top after my win.

“It’s all about being in the top seven but of course to be on top is amazing. I received so many screenshots of me being at the number one which is just cool.”

Muehlbauer holds a 160.87 point advantage on the Order of Merit over Denmark’s Amalie Leth-Nissen who has held the position since the opening event.

The tournament starts on July 4 and will see 132 players tee it up across 54 holes of golf for a €45,000 pound prize fund.
