It’s not just the trophy and winner’s cheque, Austria’s Katharina Muehlbauer has walked away with from Ramside but also a coveted spot at the FREED GROUP Women’s Scottish Open Presented By Trust Golf.

After winning the second tournament at Ramside Hall Golf Club and placing tied-8th in the first Muehlbauer has earned an invitee spot to the Scottish tournament through Trust Golf.

This was a late surprise for Muehlbauer, who was all set in Denmark ready to tee it up for the Smorum Ladies Open by EC Drive on the LET Access Series (LETAS), however Scotland was too big of an opportunity to miss.

Speaking about her reaction to the news, Muehlbauer said: “I am feeling awesome right now. I was so surprised, I wasn’t expecting this!

“Ana [LETAS Tournament Director] pulled me aside in Denmark and at first I thought I had done something wrong or something happened.

“I only needed a few minutes to decide that I wanted to take this opportunity.

“I know that last year the invites were announced in advance so I assumed no invites this year. But now, I can’t believe it. Getting this invite means a lot and I’m so thankful to Trust Golf and others for the opportunity.”

After 12 top-10 finishes, Austria’s Katharina Muehlbauer finally got her maiden professional win on the LET Access Series (LETAS) last week at the LETAS Trust Golf Links Series

A winning smile.

Muehlbauer has had a consistent season after making all the cuts at nine LETAS events so far, including two top-10 finishes at the Flumserberg Ladies Open and the first Trust Golf Link Series event at Ramside Golf Club.

Now she’s embracing the opportunity to play at Dundonald links and the chance to play in her first ever links tournament.

“I’m looking forward to everything!” Muehlbauer exclaimed, “The atmosphere, the top players, the course. I can’t wait to play the course and see what it really looks like playing links golf.

I have zero expectations for this week and maybe that’s key. I’m just going to enjoy playing alongside the best players and embrace the challenge.”

On hearing the news, Muehlbauer’s boyfriend, also a professional golfer on the Clutch Pro Tour, immediately wanted to join and support her this week on the bag.

Speaking about it, Muehlbauer said, “It was perfect timing really, since he is not playing a tournament this week. I’m so happy and can’t wait to experience it with him and I know with him on the bag I will have a great time out there.

“I wasn’t expecting to see him until the end of August so this is also a bonus this week.

“It is also amazing to see that many friends on tour and my family at home are so happy for me. A bunch of positive things have happened over the last couple of days and I am more than ready to add more good things to that.”

Muehlbauer tees it up tomorrow at 14:21 local time alongside Thailand’s Cholcheva Wongras.
