Overnight leader France’s Anne-Charlotte Mora kept her cool to secure a four-stroke victory at the inaugural Women’s Irish Challenge.
On a windy and tough final day, Mora kept up her impressive performance from the last two days to card a round of 69 (-3), the lowest round of the day.
It was a strong start for Mora with a birdie dropping on the first hole followed by another on the fifth. Two bogeys on holes six and nine set the 2022 LET winner back again.
Undeterred, Mora fired up the flatstick on the back nine to card three consecutive birdies on holes 11, 12 and 13 to set herself apart from the rest of the field.
Speaking about what it means to win again, Mora said: “I’m so unbelievably happy right now. It feels weird, like it’s not true.
“This win means so much as I struggled last year and I didn’t play my best, it will give me so much confidence going into the next two LET events.”
The 18th green marked the first time Mora properly checked the leaderboard. It was then she felt calm to sink the final putt.
“I felt so calm in that moment. It’s been such a great week in Ireland. I think Ireland is my favourite country now.”
Mora has been out of the winner’s circle since 2022 where she claimed her maiden Ladies European Tour victory in dramatic style, producing a fine finish to win the Åland 100 Ladies Open by Alandsbanken.
This marks Mora’s first win on LETAS.
“I’m not sure how I am going to celebrate. I’ve got a flight to catch quite soon but I’m travelling with my friend Emma [Grechi] so we can make the journey a fun one!
“I’m excited to get back and celebrate at home.”
Going forwards Mora’s focus will be on the LET where she is set to play in two more events to finish out the season.
“I will keep trying to play my best, this will definitely give me a lot of confidence which I needed.”
It was a tight contest for second with Germany’s Verena Gimmy carding a flawless back nine of four birdies to take the crown.
Isabella Holpfer had to settle for third, a proud achievement for the young Austrian as this marks her highest finish to date on Tour.
Sweden’s Louisa Carlbom and USA’s Annika Borrelli finish tied fourth whilst Spain’s Amaia Latorre finished solo sixth.
Australia’s Justice Bosio closed off the tournament in seventh, marking her fifth top 10 finish this season.
The top seven on the Order of Merit remains the same. Spain’s Amaia Latorre now moves into eighth place with 1,003.66 points and England’s Charlotte Heath moves into ninth.
LETAS now heads back over the Irish Sea to England for the inaugural and highly anticipated Rose Ladies Open.
For 2025 the event is taking place at a new venue, Hanbury Manor Marriot Hotel and Country Club on 5-7 September.
