Scotland’s Hannah McCook goes into this tournament week as the highest ranked player from last year’s edition of Hauts De France.
In 2022, the Nethy Bridge player finished fourth on two-under-par after rounds of 70, 72 and 75.
Speaking ahead of this week, the 30-year-old said: “I’m feeling ok! I feel my golf hasn’t been quite as good the last couple of weeks but I’m trying to just remember how I did here last year and how I played a few months ago to try and get it back where I want it to be. I feel it’s been more mental; I just need to continue to trust myself and know I can do it.
This week, the event is co-sanctioned with the Alps Tour, a developmental professional golf tour for men which is sanctioned by the national golf associations of France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Morocco.
“It’s different having the boys on site!,” admits McCook. “We play a slightly different course and we don’t play with the guys or directly compete against them but it’s good to be in the environment with them and see what they do to practice and during the tournament.
“The Course set up is very similar to last year, but it is playing a lot different. The course is softer and not as fiery, so it’s playing a little bit longer I would say. I like the course, it’s quirky in places but that makes it interesting!”
It’s been a strong season for McCook who currently sits at number ten on the LETAS Order of Merit just outside the coveted top six spots.
2023 has seen three top 10 places on tour for the Scottish golfer including a narrowly missed win at the Capio Ogon Trophy where she lost out on the play off to LETAS Order of Merit winner Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen.
“I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself, I’m just trying to literally take one shot at a time and not get ahead of myself.
“If I can do that and then see what happens on the golf side of things, I’ll feel it’s been a successful week!
“It goes without saying I would love to win, but so much can happen. We are getting close to the end of the season, so I’m just trying to enjoy every round as it will be a long winter without the buzz of competing.”
McCook starts her campaign at 12:50pm alongside two-time winner Chiara Tamburlini and France’s Chloe Salort.
