Macrae and Rominger Tied in Crete

Heather Macrae

Scotland’s Heather Macrae and Caroline Rominger from Switzerland are tied for the lead at 2 under par after 36 holes in the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies Open at Crete Golf Club.

Both players have matched each other over the first two rounds, with two rounds of 70, 70. Macrae played her way back into contention with a back nine of 4 under par. The young Scot became a first time winner on the LET Access Series earlier this year, winning the Solvesborg Ladies Open hosted by Fanny Sunesson in May. Macrae was also a winner recently in the Paul Lawrie Tour Championship, the final event of the newly launched SLOT tour.

Finland’s Linda Henriksson shot a second round 73, for a one under par total for third position on her own. Last year’s Crete Ladies Open champion, Christine Wolf and England’s Charlotte Wild are a further shot back at even par and a tie for fourth position.

Scotland’s Pamela Feggans, who currently lies in sixth position on the LETAS Order of Merit and just outside the top five automatic places for a card on the Ladies European Tour for next season, sits in sixth place with one round to play.

Twenty six professionals made the cut, which fell at six over par. Play will commence at 9am on the final day with the leaders teeing off at 10.20am.
