After six events, Czechia’s Patricie Mackova has made six consecutive top 10s, including four top five finishes.
After an impressive start to the season, Mackova now sits eighth on the LETAS Order of Merit, currently a meagre 25.62 points away from seventh spot. The top seven at the end of the season earn LET playing rights for the 2026 season.
Staying remarkably chill, Mackova is keen to keep playing good golf rather than focus in on points and rankings.
Speaking ahead of the week, Mackova said: “I think Gray Bear has a lovely set up. It’s challenging and a tough golf course, but I think that fits my game because I hit a good approach and my putting is good.
“I am used to slopy greens as a lot of Czech courses including my own has them which makes me excited to play this week.”
Mackova has split her time this season between the LET and LETAS. Over on the LET, Mackova has held her own and made six consecutive cuts with a highest finish of tied 15th at the Hulencourt Women’s Open. Her last event was the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.
“I think the good results do give me momentum but more than that it takes some pressure off because I know that I’ve had the good results I don’t have to perform as well.
“I know that doesn’t sound great, but I think it’s a good thing for me to go out there and just play and see how it goes.”
Mackova, who finished 32nd at last year’s edition of the Ladies Slovak Golf Open, arrived late last night choosing to prioritise practice at home. She drove six hours to the tournament last night.
“I had practice with my coach yesterday and I think we did some good stuff. Now I just need to get the right speed in the greens. I think being chilled out is good for me. The less I think about everything the better I play so that’s the goal.
“It’s nice to be in Slovakia, closer to home and bring the stuff that I need. I’m sharing an apartment with my friends; I have my own trolley. I speak the language, so it feels close to home which is nice.”
Speaking about where she sits on the LETAS Order of Merit, Mackova said: “I have thought about it, but I try not to because that’s not the thing I should be doing. Instead I should be focusing on playing good golf. I’m happy that I’m close now.”
Mackova tees it up at 13:09 local time alongside Australia’s Justice Bosio and Scotland’s Hannah Darling.
