Luna Leads The Way In Larvik

Spanish amateur Luna Sobrón set the early pace at the Larvik Ladies Open with an opening round of 67 taking a one shot lead over fellow countrywomen Piti Martinez Bernal.

The 21 year-old from Majorca got off to a fiery start with birdies on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th and a single bogey at the long par 3, 6th for an impressive 31 outward nine. Sobrón kept her form into the back nine to come back in level par, for a solid five under par round.

Sobrón recently claimed the Smyth Salver at the RICOH Women’s British Open for the leading amateur after finishing in a tie for 13th and will be looking to take advantage of her major experience and move up the LETAS Order of Merit.

Two shots further back in 3rd place lies fellow Spanish amateur Natalia Escuriola who opened her campaign with a 3 under par, 69.

Order of Merit leader Olivia Cowan, struggled on her opening nine but fought back to lie in a tie for 4th alongside seven further players at two under par.

Tomorrow’s second round will commence at 8.30am.
