LOCAL TALENT TAUER EXCITED TO TEE IT UP AT HOME COURSE

Czech amateur Amalie Tauer has been waiting a whole year to tee it up again at her home course, Panorama Golf Resort.

The local golfing talent put in a strong performance in last year’s edition of the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge where she made the cut and even finished runner-up after the first round.

Speaking about her excitement for this year’s event, Tauer said: “I’ve been waiting for this week for a long time. I’ve talked about it so much with the local people here that I’m just super excited to compete at my home course.

“Panorama is really challenging and every time I play it, I find something new about it, and it’s just crazy.

“I learnt a lot last year. It showed me that I have people that are believing in me, cheering for me, and playing at home soil is just a great privilege.

“I know now that I am capable of certain stuff that, for example, I wasn’t really even sure of last year.”

Despite playing on her home course, Tauer isn’t feeling the pressure. Instead, she is excited to test her game against the professionals.

“Last year the first round worked out well for me, but I don’t find it as a way of putting some pressure on myself. It’s more of a motivation.

“Right now, I know that I’m capable of competing at the highest level with the professionals here.”

Joining Tauer on the bag this week is a long-time friend, Adéla Tarantová.

“We have been playing golf together forever since I, you know, grabbed the club so this is definitely something we have looked forward to.”

Tauer is currently in school but is dreaming about going to the US for college and furthering her golf career. She wants to follow up in the footsteps of Sara Kouskova, 2022 LETAS Order of Merit winner and recent two-time LET winner, who is in the field this week.

“It was a surprise to see Sara is playing. I know her a little bit, and she’s super nice. So, I’m just excited to play in the same field as her. To watch her play is always something extraordinary. So, I’m looking forward to it.”

Tauer tees it up at 14:03pm alongside Sweden’s Maia Samuelsson and USA’s Kyle Fraser.
