Mexico’s Alejandra Llaneza returns to the LET Access Series (LETAS) this week after clinching her seventh professional victory two weeks ago at the Santander Golf Tour-Avila.
It was a special birthday for Llaneza who carded a phenomenal final round of 64 (-8) to jump 20 positions up the leaderboard and find herself in a three-way playoff.
A birdie on the first playoff hole was all it took for the Mexican to clinch the trophy and make a successful comeback after quitting tournament golf for the past two years.
Speaking about what she has been up to in between events, Llaneza said: “That day I was so tired we were going to go out to dinner and everything, but I just stayed in and then the next week, I just took a little break, I rested and then I went to see some friends in Barcelona.
“I was already planning on taking that week off, but it came in handy that it was after the win.”
This week marks Llaneza’s first week playing tournament golf in Czechia and she is excited to embrace the challenge of Panorama Golf.
“I’m really excited to get back to playing. It’s a great course this week. It’s a challenge in many ways. I think physically, the walking will be tough. It’s very hilly.
“I think it’s a course where you really need to place your tee shots and know which areas of the greens you must hit the ball on. I’m excited, it’s a good challenge.
“It’s beautiful. I was in Prague many years ago and I loved it, but I hadn’t had a chance to play, so I’m loving it so far, everyone’s been friendly and welcoming.”
After winning already this year, Llaneza is approaching this week as a reset, physically and mentally.
“I spoke with my team, my coach and my sports psychologist and this week is a kind of reset, I want to get back to what we’ve been working on, and I mean, we’re still early in the season, so I just want to keep doing what we’ve been doing and kind of start from scratch again.
“That’s golf everyday you have to kind of start from zero again. The win was great, but I’m ready to get back to focus mode.”
Llaneza tees it up at 13:41 alongside France’s Charlotte Liautier and Australia’s Justice Bosio, who she defeated in the playoff.
