At last year’s edition of the Terre Blanche Ladies Open, France’s Charlotte Liautier battled her way into a dramatic three-way play-off before losing out on the win to French amateur Louise Uma Landgraf.
The Frenchwoman returns to Terre Blanche with a fire in her belly and is excited to start her season in her home country.
Speaking ahead of the first round, Liautier said: “I am happy to be back at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open. I’m so excited that the season is finally starting.
“I chose to do my off-season different this year, I haven’t played a tournament before this one.
“I’ve changed a lot of things in my swing and I have been working on every part of my golf mentally and technically.
“I now hope I will see the changes I’ve put in place pay off.”
Last season, Liautier mainly played on the LET and recorded her highest finish at the Belgian Ladies Open where she placed 6th.
In 2021, Charlotte won the LETAS season finale in Barcelona to record her first professional victory and finish seventh in the Order of Merit, now she is back on LETAS and looking to find her way back to a secure category on the LET.
“I feel at home here, last year I just remember bad rain and wind but being so happy with my final round.
“I shared a score with Sara Kouskova, who is also in Team Amundi, so it was so cool, and my game was very strong last year.“
Despite great history at Terre Blanche, Liautier is keen to not get too ahead of herself.
“This week I would be happy to play it simple, the result comes second, I want to see all my off-season work paying off.
“It’s the first tournament of the year and I am looking forward to having fun and seeing where the season takes me.”
Liautier gets her first round underway at 13:31pm alongside last year’s play-off opponent Landgraf and the Netherland’s Marit Harryvan.
