LIAUTIER HAPPY TO BE BACK AT MONTAUBAN LADIES OPEN

France’s Charlotte Liautier is happy to be back at the Montauban Ladies Open and is aiming to produce another strong performance to continue her fine season so far.

After five events, Liautier sits sixth on the LETAS Order of Merit after recording three top five finishes and two top 30s.

The 26-year-old’s highest finish was third at the Madaef Golf’s Ladies Open in Morocco.

Speaking ahead of this week, Liautier said: “I’m really happy to play in France this week, and I know the course well, so I hope I will do well here.

“I think with the rain they’ve had this year it helps to keep the course soft. So the course will play a little bit longer but I think it’s a good thing because there will be less unlucky bounces this year.”

Liautier is relishing the comforts which come from playing a week at home and is excited to continue her momentum on familiar soil.

“It’s quite an easy week when I play in France, especially outside of golf. I also know quite a lot of people here, so it’s pretty nice to play at home. I’m happy to be here.

“I think I’ve had a pretty strong start to the season. Honestly Terre Blanche was quite different compared to the other tournaments because I made a lot of mistakes with strategy.  It was stressful to start the season like that.

“After that I worked a lot, especially on my strategy around the course and taking more time to think.

“My putting has been pretty strong so I want to keep that up.”

Liautier has one goal for this season and that is to finish in the top seven in the Order of Merit to clinch an LET card for 2026.

“It’s so stressful to play every week and think about points but honestly I’m trying to not think about this too much and not listen to all the outside noise.

“I want to just keep my momentum because I’m so close to leading a tournament.”

In 2021, Liautier clinched victory at the LETAS season finale in Barcelona as an amateur and turned professional after securing her LET card at the following Q School.

“I lost all my confidence after my first year on LET because I didn’t finish the season well. So, to win again would be  something very special.

“To win as a professional would mean a lot.  I would like to win a tournament this year, but I’m just trying to continue what I’m doing.

“My confidence is better and my consistency. I think I’m a really hard worker so I know good things will follow.”

Liautier tees it up at 12:05 local time alongside the Order of Merit one and two, England’s Gemma Clews and Denmark’s Amalie Leth-Nissen.
