LETAS Blog with Mariana Andrea Macias Capuzzi

Hey to all golf lovers!!! Yes, golf can become an addiction…and a lifestyle! Let me introduce myself:

My name actually is Mariana Andrea Macias Capuzzi, yes, a long one…I am Spanish!! But everyone refers to me as Mariana Macias. I am 22 and I recently turned professional and I truly believe is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love this game and this lifestyle so far!

However, before turning pro I got my degree in International Business while playing golf for Auburn University. I think it is very important to grow intellectually also and live through that little chapter of our lives that is college. Auburn was great, they have the best facilities, the best coaches and teammates!! We played on division I and it was a great experience since they have some of the best amateur players in the world. I finished first individually and as a team at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in 2007, but the most exciting was winning the Southeastern Conference Championship with my team in 2009!

College was over for me in May 2009 and I graduated with a 3.3 GPA!! I worked hard for it!! After the summer I decided I wanted to start taking little steps toward the professional world and played 3 tournaments on the Banesto Tour (Spanish Tour) where I got a 2nd place and two top 10. After that it was qualifying school time!!After some tough 10 days, I made it all the way to the last day of the second stage, but, ladies and gentlemen, this is golf, and I was going through a “Peace Treaty” with my putter that week and I ended up getting conditional card for the Ladies European Tour.

I started 2010 with the biggest smile and desire of golf I got. I am playing every tournament I can, even if I have to play against the guys from the white tees! I am participating on some LET events (played the Lalla Meryem Cup, and made the cut), the LET Access, the Banesto Tour and a little Madrid Tour where sometimes we have to play the guys! Just taking little and sweet steps in order to reach the top!

Well…like I said golf is my lifestyle but not my whole life! Hmmm…a little bit about my “other” side…I looove animals! I volunteer to help them every time I am home and that I am able to. I am in love with history, I believe it is important to learn it so we don’t make the same mistakes, I actually wanted to be an Egyptologist…hehehe…maybe I will be one someday in the future. DO NOT ever give me a microphone…because I WON’T give it back to you…I can sing for hours! Love dancing and traveling and horse riding. I love chocolate and sweets, I was born in Argentina, and my family is big in sweets so… I am glad I work out hard to compensate! Sweets are one of the greatest pleasures in life! And…finally…after I practice during the week, work out, or travel…I also teach English.

Last but not least, thanks for reading my blog, and I am guessing that if you are reading this is because you probably are a golf fan and a women´s golf supporter and I want to thank you for that! We all ladies practice and work hard because we love golf and because we want to show the world we can play some great golf also!!

Be happy; be good and always positive no matter what!

Have a great week, besos,
Mariana.
