The inaugural Azores Ladies Open will be staged this December 2 – 4 at Campo de Golf de Batalha in Ponta Delgada on São Miguel Island in the Azores, Portugal.
A field of up to 84 competitors will play the 54-hole strokeplay event and the total prize fund is €25,000, sponsored by the Azores Tourist Board.

Campo de Golf de Batalha will be a stunning venue and we look forward to bringing some of the world’s most promising female golfers to the Azores,” said LETAS Director Diane Barnard.
The event Promoter, Antonio Carmona Santos, added: “We are delighted to bring to the Azores the first ladies professional tournament played in this Portuguese region.”

Campo de Golf de Batalha staged the 2008 Azores Seniors Open on the European Seniors Tour and was won by Australian Stewart Ginn.
The venue is certain to be popular with players, set in a breathtaking landscape on São Miguel, known as ‘The Green Island’: the largest and most populated island of the Azores in the North Atlantic Ocean, between Portugal and North America. Its geography features beautiful lakes, sandy beaches, rolling hills, high mountains and views of the ocean.
The new event brings to seven the number of events on the 2011 calendar, following the addition of the recent LETAS Ladies Open in the UK.
