LET Access Series Adds New UK Event to 2011 Schedule

The 18th hole at Hazlemere Golf Club

The LETAS Ladies Open will be played this August 24-26 at Hazlemere Golf Club in south Buckinghamshire.

The venue hosted a Ladies European Tour Pro Am in 1984 when the leading players of the day, such as Dale Reid and Mickey Walker, teed up at Hazlemere. This year’s event will attract some of the brightest burgeoning international talents in the women’s game today, who will travel from all around the globe to participate.

LETAS Director Diane Barnard said that the tournament marked a significant milestone for the tour, which was launched in 2010 to help elite golfers develop their games in a professional environment.

“This agreement underlines the growing appeal of the LET Access Series and we look forward to giving British golf fans the opportunity to watch some of the world’s leading elite female golfers, many of whom will become the future stars of the women’s game.

“It is extremely encouraging to have the endorsement of Hazlemere Golf Club and we are very thankful for the support received from The R&A, as it has been instrumental in making this first UK event on the LET Access Series possible. ”

Chris Mahoney, general manager of Hazlemere Golf Club added: “The club is proud to be hosting the LETAS event and looks forward to welcoming both players and fans alike.”

Situated in the picturesque Chiltern Hills, Hazlemere Golf Club opened in October 1982 and it became a members’ club in 2000. Whilst it is not a long course at 5900 yards, it offers a considerable challenge due to the nature of the terrain. It also has the distinction of being the course where Luke Donald honed his game in his formative years before going on to become the World No.1.
