Camilla Lennarth took a three stroke lead after the opening round of the Ladies Norwegian Challenge at Hauger Golf Club in Oslo on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old Swede mixed seven birdies with a bogey and a double bogey for a four under par 68 to end three clear of compatriots Malin Lundberg and Daniela Holmqvist, both of whom are amateurs.
Lennarth, who represents Saltsjöbadens GK, is a member of the Ladies European Tour but hasn’t played in any events so far this year. She is targeting her first victory on the LET Access Series in this week’s event, which is co-sanctioned with the Nordea Tour, although she did win on the Swedish Tour last year as an amateur.
A group of four players opened with rounds of level par 72, including Scottish Curtis Cup player Pamela Pretswell, who is playing in her first tournament after turning professional.
Pretswell, who won the Ljungbyhed Park PGA Ladies Open recently as an amateur, shares fourth spot with Swede Christina Hallstrom and Norwegians Caroline Martens and Cesile Hagen.
Norway’s Marianne Skarpnord, a two-time winner on the LET and Swedes Maria Ohlsson, Jessica Karlsson and Jacqueline Hedwall, the twin sister of European Solheim Cup player Caroline, were in a group on one over 73 along with Irish pair Tara Delaney and Danielle McVeigh and Denmark’s Monica Christiansen.
The second round of the 54-hole event gets under way Thursday before a cut to the leading 25 players and ties after 36 holes.
