Spain’s Amaia Latorre is having her best season yet. During her fourth season as a professional, Latorre has recorded two top 10s on LETAS and made two cuts on the LET including a tied 17th place at last week’s Jabra Ladies Open.
This week, Latorre returns to a comfortable environment and is excited to keep producing strong results.
Speaking ahead of this week, Latorre said: “I’m super excited to play Avila again this year and compete on home soil this week.
“I want to keep up with the momentum, but I feel super calm. This week I just want to try to play my best, enjoy the friendships I have out here, the atmosphere and the good weather.”
Latorre had an unusual pathway to professional golf. After her parents introduced her to golf at the age of three, the 26-year-old balanced golf with her other passion, football.
Football was the priority but at the insistence of coaches and friends, golf took more and more precedent in her life.
Latorre finished in the top 50 at the 2024 Lalla Aicha Qualifying School and so far this season she has balanced her schedule between the LET and LETAS.
“It’s not easy being between two tours. Yet, after the re-rank I’m going to try to compete as much as I can on the LET and then let’s see if I can go on to achieve good things.”
A humble player, Latorre credits her strong results this season with her strong mental resilience and focus.
“For sure this is my best season so far. I don’t feel that I’m the best at doing anything, driving or putting or anything but I feel that mentally I can do a lot of good work and that’s the key to my good results.”
Latorre tees it up at 13:40pm alongside last week’s runner up Austrian Katharina Muehlbauer and France’s Charlotte Liautier.
