Ladies Norwegian Open Set For Exciting Format

                                                                                            Tonje Daffinrud

The Ladies Norwegian Open, which will take place this week from the 18 – 20 August at Skjeberg GC, near Oslo, will feature an exciting final day format, played alongside the Men’s Norwegian Open, over the same course.

It’s the first time an event on the LET Access Series has featured this format, which follows that of the Oates Victoria Open, which is played at the Beach Links in Victoria, Australia.

The event will feature 123 female and 156 male players, with the men playing at Moss å Rygge Golf Club for the first two rounds and then joining the LETAS players for the final day over the Skjeberg course.

Tonje Daffinrud will once again headline the women’s event and she is joined by a further 16 Norwegian players. Maria Parra, who is fresh from a win last week in the Drobak Ladies Open will be the player to beat. The 18-year-old is a two-time winner on the LET Access Series this year and will be brimming with confidence, taking a commanding lead at the top of the LETAS ranking with 17,161.50 points.

Daffinrud and Parra are joined by other previous tournament winners this season, Sweden’s Josephine Janson and Jenny Haglund, Marion Duvernay of France, and Spaniard’s Luna Sobron and Carolina Garcia Gonzalez. They are also joined by past season winners, Johanna Gustavsson, Emma Nilsson and Emma Westin from Sweden, Norway’s Cecile Lundgreen, Spain’s Natalia Escuriola and Michele Thomson from Scotland.

The stellar field will be competing for the highest prize money of the LETAS season with €50,000 on offer.

At the close of the 2016 LETAS season, the top five players on the 2016 Ranking will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour while players in sixth to 20th positions will have the opportunity to progress to the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School for 2016.
