LACOSTE Named Official Apparel Supplier to LET Access Series

LACOSTE will benefit from an association with the LET Access Series, the official feeder tour to the Ladies European Tour and its logo will feature on the official LETAS website, which was launched earlier this year.

“We are delighted to have such a strong and successful brand as LACOSTE supporting the LET Access Series, in addition to the Ladies European Tour, which continues to reinforce the brand’s strong and unique heritage in women’s golf,” said Alexandra Armas, the Ladies European Tour’s Executive Director.

“The brand’s history in golf starts with René Lacoste’s wife and their daughter who were the biggest champions of French women’s golf history. We are proud to be a partner of the LETAS and perpetuate our image and history in female golf. The LETAS is an institution that unites the best players in Europe and we are happy to be able to accompany them during their successes hoping that one day they will become world known champions.” said Christophe Chenut, CEO of LACOSTE.

LACOSTE is also the official apparel supplier to the Ladies European Tour, which features 26 tournaments in 21 different countries in 2010. The LET Access Series, the official feeder tour to the Ladies European Tour, has been formed to give players not part of a major tour an opportunity to progress on to The Ladies European Tour. All female professional golfers and amateurs with a handicap of 3 or better are eligible for membership of LETAS, providing they are over 18 years of age.

Golf is strongly linked to the history of LACOSTE. The wife of famous tennis champion and founder of the brand René Lacoste, Simone Thion de la Chaume, won the British Ladies and the national and international championships of France among other titles. Their daughter, Catherine Lacoste, then perpetuated the family tradition at the highest sporting level in 1964 by becoming number one world player in both individual and team rankings and then winning the U.S. Open in 1967. At the time she was the youngest, the only amateur and the only non-American to hold the prestigious title.

Through its authentic sports roots, LACOSTE today implements an active policy of partnership in women’s golf. The brand counts renowned golf champions such as Lorena Ochoa, Yani Tseng, Cristie Kerr, Gwladys Nocera and Tania Elosegui among its ambassadors, as well as Anne-Lise Caudal, Virginie Lagoutte-Clement, Sophie Giquel, Karine Icher, and Ludivine Kreutz, all of whom embody the values of the brand: audacity, tenacity, elegance and performance.
