KOZELHUOVA ON WHY 2025 IS HER BIGGEST YEAR YET

Czech player Tereza Kozelhuova is excited to tee it up once again on the LET Access Series (LETAS) in 2025.

The 24-year-old player from Prague had her best season to date in 2024, finishing in the top 60 (52) on the Order of Merit to retain her playing rights.

The Czech player also made the cut at consecutive LET events; her home event and the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open.

A tied seventh position at the Ladies Slovak Golf Open was Kozelhuova’s strongest result and also was her favourite tournament outside her home events.

“The beginning and the middle part of the season went well, I struggled more towards the end.

“Slovakia was my highlight. I really enjoyed that tournament.”

The LET’s Tipsport Czech Ladies Open is Kozelhuova’s yearly highlight, with her father Lubos being the promoter of the event.

“That LET tournament is a great week for me. It’s amazing to see everything my father does and for it all to come together.

“However, that week comes with pressure. I want to play the best I can. Not just for myself but also because of my father. I know one of the reasons he does the event is for me and I just want to play well.”

It was through her father that Tereza first picked up the game of golf.

“My father introduced me to golf and took my sisters and my mum onto the course. We all started playing at the same time. I was around four years old.”

From there, Kozelhuova competed on the Czech junior amateur circuit. Her biggest success came in Ski and Golf events, where she won the Czech ski & golf championship in 2018 and medalled at the Ski&Golf Worldcup.

Ski and Golf World Champion.

“I loved doing those events because I love golf and I love skiing and combining both together was great.

I had to stop as the last time I did it, I hurt my knee from the ski race and started to get scared about injury. I don’t want to miss out on the golf season because of it.”

Kozelhuova decided to not pursue America for college and instead turned professional alongside studying in Prague.

“There aren’t many amateur tournaments after you turn 18, so I thought why not give it a go at being professional.

“I’m still at school so that is also a priority. This year I’m finishing university and my master’s degree.

“It’s been hard managing studies alongside golf. It’s not easy and I’m excited that this is my last year.

“So, this year’s decision year where I decide whether I continue my professional career.

“In some ways, this year is the most important year of my life.

Kozelhuova has plenty of family support, her sister Eva is now her coach having decided to focus on that aspect of professional golf instead of playing.

“She is now coaching and loving it. She has really found herself in that job. One or two times a year she will come and caddy for me. I love it when she does. There is a special bond between us.

“For the first two years when I was a professional and she was also competing we were competitive with each other. Yet we always want each other to play and be the best.

“She is now my coach and the relationship is better. I can tell her anything.”

Off season has been memorable for Tereza with golf practice trips to Dubai, Spain and an engagement proposal in Greece.

“My fiancé is also a professional golf player. We got engaged on my name day which was special.

“We’ve been together for quite some time so I’m so happy. Nowadays most people get married closer to their 30s but I’m happy we can do it a bit younger and enjoy married life together for longer.”

Kozelhuova starts her season in South Africa on the LET before returning to LETAS in time for the Super Bock Ladies Open at Vidago Palace.
