KOUSKOVA RETURNING TO HER ROOTS BY PLAYING ON LETAS AT HOME THIS WEEK

After back-to-back LET wins at the Jabra Ladies Open and the Tenerife Women’s Open, Czechia’s Sara Kouskova is returning to her roots and teeing it up at the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge this week on the LET Access Series (LETAS).

LETAS was where Kouskova kickstarted her career. In 2021 whilst still an amateur Kouskova won the Amundi Czech Lades Challenge when it was hosted at Golf & Spa Resort Konopiste.

One year later, she entered the professional ranks and took LETAS by a storm, totalling three more victories to her name and winning the 2022 LETAS Order of Merit to earn her LET card.

Explaining her decision to tee it up on LETAS this week, Kouskova said: “I really wanted to come back home and play here for two weeks. Having Amundi as the main sponsor who have been behind my career and supporting me was important. I wanted to give back.

“I met Alain Berry when he was still in France, but then he became the CEO of Amundi in the Czech Republic.

“He was one of the main reasons then that I got into the AMUNDI golf team, which was really, big for me and still is.

“Panorama is a beautiful place. I love the course. I love the people here. It’s a beautiful spa. So, a nice time to relax, too.

“This week serves as a nice practice for next week and it’s great to see my friends on LETAS as well.”

The Czech star first came to attention when she won the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge event back in 2021 as an amateur whilst still playing in college at Texas.

Kouskova credits that week as giving her the confidence to know she could compete amongst the professionals.

“That week was a kickstart for my career. I think that was a good reassurance that I was on the right path. It was a great week. I played solidly. When I look back on it now, I don’t know how I did it. It was good for Czech golf, too.”

In 2022, Kouskova dominated the LETAS Order of Merit after winning the 2022 Santander Golf Tour – Malaga followed by the 2022 Elite Hotels Open and the 2022 ASGI Lavaux Ladies Open back-to-back.

“I’m still very grateful how everything worked out because looking back it seemed way too easy but obviously, it was backed up by a lot of hard work, but my time on LETAS was just incredible.

“I was so grateful for the people, too, because LETAS is absolutely an amazing spot to be at. Lots of friends and great leadership.”

After her triumphs on the LET, Kouskova is leading the flag for Czech golf and wants to inspire the younger generation to pursue their golfing dreams.

“I’m trying to do my best to lead the way for Czech golf. Hopefully I can inspire others and, and we can get more Czech women on the big tour.”

Speaking about her goals for this week, Kouskova said: “I think I just want to play well. Having played a couple of weeks in a row, I wanted to take it a little easier in practice and, use the time to relax.

“I want to get ready for the Tipsports Czech Ladies Open next week, get used to the grass back home and just enjoy the time at home as well. I want to see my family, friends and enjoy this beautiful place.”

Kouskova tees it up at 13:30pm local time alongside the current LETAS Order of Merit leader Amalie Leth-Nissen and Irish amateur Aine Donegan who was part of the winning 2024 GB&I Curtis Cup team.
