Cassandra Kirkland
France’s Cassandra Kirkland takes a commanding lead into the final day at the Fourqueux Ladies Open, near Paris. Kirkland shot a second round 68, four under par, for a 7 under par total and a four shot lead over Australian Bree Arthur.
Kirkland, who won the 2012 Sanya Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour, birdied four of the first five holes on her back nine, before dropping shots on the 6th and 9th holes. The 28 year-old from Paris, birdied the 12th and 15th to come home in 33 shots. The Frenchwoman has had an indifferent start to her season on the Ladies European Tour and will be looking for a strong finish tomorrow.
Bree Arthur, Kirkland’s closest challenger, has been enjoying some good form of late. The Australian finished in a tie for 4th place at the recent LET Deloitte Ladies Open and narrowly missed out to Spain’s Mireia Prat at the Ocho Golf Ladies Open back in May.
Daniela Prorokova from the Czech Republic, shot a second round 72 to add to a first round of 70, to lie in third place on her own.
Austria’s Christine Wolf, who broke through with her first professional victory at the Crete Ladies Open last year, holds fourth position with rounds of 70 and 73 (-1).
Spanish amateur Patricia Sanz Barrio, currently lying second on the 2012 LETAS Order of Merit, shot rounds of 73 and 71 to be tied in fifth position, with Germany’s Steffi Kirchmayr and Linda Henriksson from Finland.
The cut fell at 5 over par, with 34 professionals and three amateurs playing on the final day. The third round will commence at 8.43am with the final tee off time at 11.30am.
