Sweden’s Jessica Karlsson fired a four under par 67 to take a one stroke lead after the opening round of the Ljungbyhed PGA Ladies Open on Wednesday.
South African rookie professional Monique Smit and last week’s tournament winner Cecile Lundgreen of Norway ended the day a stroke back in a share of second position followed closely by four players on two under par.
They included Ana Laranetta of Spain and three Swedes: professional Cissi Wahlberg and amateurs Isabella Deilert and Emma Nilsson.
Another amateur, Frida Gustafsson-Spang tied for eighth at one under with Swedish professional Anjelika Hammar, who attended LET Qualifying School in January.
South Africans Nicole Becker and Laurette Maritz opened with level par rounds of 71 to share 10th place with Sweden’s Erika Holmen and England’s Rachel Bell.
The first round of the three-day event was played in dry and windy conditions under slightly cloudy skies.
