The day started with rain and thunder, then the wind started to blow on the second day of the Anna Nordqvist Västerås Open. “At the end of the round it was almost unplayable, the ball was wavering on the green,” said Jessica Karlsson, who is lying second and best placed Swede heading into the final round.
It became a day with two “sides” at Västerås Golf Club. During the early morning, the organisers were forced to delay the second round for one hour, due to the electrical storms in the area.
The wind – as issued warnings, especially on the west coast – became stronger and stronger, and soon it was up to 18-19 metres per second. After lunch, it was so strong that one of the on-course tents began to blow away.
An early starting time proved to be an advantage
Jessica Karlsson, from Forsgården, was one of ten players who shot par for the day. “It was a bit up and down with the weather today, but my game was stable. It’s tough out there for those who go out in the afternoon, she said.
Frenchwoman Emie Peronnin (69) and Swiss player Anais Maggetti (72) lead. Both players are tied at three under par, a total of 141.
Jessica Karlsson shares second place with Norway’s Stina Resen (70) and Finn Sanna Nuutinen (74) on -2.
