Jessica Karlsson
Sweden’s Jessica Karlsson leads the Forget Foundation PGA Championship by one shot from fellow countrywoman, Casja Persson, with an opening round of 68, at PGA Sweden National in Bara.
Karlsson recorded six birdies and two bogeys on her way to a four under par total. The 24-year-old from Karlstad credited her strong day on the greens for her low score in difficult conditions.
“It was a nice round, I holed a lot of putts. On number four I holed a putt of about 20 metres. It felt good, I haven’t practiced that much the last week. It’s a good course, it’s pretty wide so you don’t have to hit that straight, which I like about it. That’s good for my game.”
Persson shot nines of 36 and 33 for a score of 69, three under. Six players are tied in third place at one under par, Swedes Julia Davidsson, Lina Boqvist and Mimmi Bergman, Caroline Rominger of Switzerland, Austria’s Nina Muehl and Manon de Roey of Belgium.
The event is being played alongside the men’s Star For Life PGA Championship, with 78 players in each field. Today, the LETAS players teed off in the morning with the men playing in the afternoon. Tomorrow the tee times will be switched with the women teeing off in the afternoon wave.
