JIMENEZ MARTIN EXCITED TO PLAY IN FRONT OF HOME CROWD

Spain’s Noemi Jimenez Martin is looking forward to teeing it up close to her home as the LET Access Series season continues with the Santander Golf Tour – Malaga from July 21–23.

The scenic course Golf Torrequebrada will welcome 94 players to compete for a purse of 40,000 EUR in the 54-hole tournament.

The Marbella native relishes the opportunity to compete on home soil with the support of her friends and family.

“Staying at home and being able to see your family is always nice and I feel happier when I’m at home. My mum and maybe other family members will come to watch so that is really exciting,” said the 28-year-old.

“There are so many courses in Costa del Sol that I’ve played at Torrequebrada only once, but it is an amazing golf course for a tournament.

“Some holes are very narrow, the greens and fairways are in great shape so it’s going to be an interesting week.”

The 2018 VP Bank Ladies Open champion who also competes on the LET, has had a successful season on LETAS this year.

Currently sitting in 12th on the LETAS Order of Merit, Jimenez Martin has three top 10 finishes to her name in 2022, including a T2 finish at Saint-Omer.

“That tournament and especially the last round gave me a lot of confidence and good references for the upcoming three days.

“I know golf can be a roller coaster sometimes but it definitely feels good to have that last round from France in my back,” continued the player who has over 100 tournaments under her belt on both tours combined.

In the first two rounds, the Spaniard will play with Nina Pegova who gained her full LET card last year through the Access Series, and Maria Herraez Galvez who is right at home at Golf Torrequebrada.

Jimenez Martin continued: “I always feel more comfortable playing with another Spanish player. I was joking that it’s good to play with Maria because this is her home course and if she plays first she could show me how it’s done here!”

Alongside other local stars in the field, the LETAS Order of Merit leader Chiara Noja from Germany will also compete in the Santander Golf Tour – Malaga, looking to extend her lead on the rankings even further.

The Dubai-based talent will play alongside LET star Virginia Elena Carta of Italy and fellow LETAS winner Kristalle Blum of Australia in the first two rounds.

The first round goes underway on Thursday morning at 8:00 local time from the first hole.

After the completion of 36 holes, 45 professionals plus ties will make the cut.
