HOST HUSTED REMAINING CALM HEADING INTO FINAL EVENTS

With three events left the pressure is on for players sitting inside and around the top seven on the Order of Merit (OOM). In a matter of weeks, their LET status could be automatic but for Denmark’s Natacha Host Husted, who currently sits fourth in the OOM, is determined to enjoy what’s left of the season.

It’s the first time Host Husted has been to Golf Saint Omer and feels the course could play to her advantage.

“The course this week is very different from the past few weeks. It’s very wet out here and usually wet courses suit me well.

“When they play softer and longer, its often an advantage for me. Yet I’ve never played here before so I’m just trying to get to know the whole place.

“I played in heavy rain yesterday so it will hopefully look a bit different out on the course in tournament play.”

This week, the event is co-sanctioned with the Alps Tour, a developmental professional golf tour for men which is sanctioned by the national golf associations of France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Morocco.

The field is smaller with only 66 players teeing it up this week, so the competition is higher with only 30 players making the cut.

“I forgot before I got here that it was a joint event. I got here and thought what all these guys are doing here! I was so confused but then I remembered.

“It’s a super small field this week so that will be different. The cut is smaller so that will be different.

“I want to treat this week like any regular tournament. I want to relax out there and play good golf. I can’t really control the result. I will just play my best, have a good attitude and see what happens.”

After a slow start, Host Husted catapulted up the rankings when the Dane won the PGA Championship Gothenburg and was the only player to shoot under par for the week.

Since then, Host Husted has flourished by securing five top 10 finishes and is yet to miss a cut.

“Coming into this season I had no idea what to expect. So, I’m happy to be in contention for a card. Have a shot at it and try to do the things I can control.

“If I’m in the top seven by the end of the season I will be thrilled. But that’s just part of the game. I’ll try to just focus on this week and leave it out there on the course.”

Host Husted tees it up at 9:15am Thursday alongside Ladies Slovak Golf Open winner Tina Mazarino and Sweden’s Anna Magnusson.
