Netherland’s Lauren Holmey came so close to victory at last week’s Santander Golf Tour-Avila and ended the week in second place losing in a play off to Mexico’s Alejandra Llaneza.
The Montauban Ladies Open is a familiar place for Holmey who finished tied seventh last year after rounds of 71, 70 and 75.
Holmey said: “I definitely had a good week last week, so it’s always a confidence booster. I like this course, the greens are in great shape.
“I think it’s the kind of course that you can play low on. You can definitely create quite a few chances and if you can convert them you can have a lot of fun. So I’m looking forward to the week.”
Last week, Holmey who played in the final group, was leading by one stroke heading down the 18th but a bogey thrust her into a three way play off alongside Llaneza and playing partner Australia’s Justice Bosio.
Yet Holmey has remained optimistic and is pleased that she produced her highest finish on LETAS since 2022.
“I played well all week, so I just quickly focused on that and how positive my game was.
“ I think it’s a good season. I think I have had a couple of good results and a couple weeks where I could really pinpoint what to work on, so it’s been a very productive season so far, and I’m having a lot of fun, so it’s good.”
Holmey earnt her LET card through LETAS in 2022 after winning the Flumserberg Ladies Open as an amateur followed by three more runner-up finishes.
Speaking about whether it’s hard to chase the card again, Holmey said: “Obviously 2022 was a good experience, but I just think every year is so different to the others, so you can’t really say, oh, I got it before, so I’m gonna get it again, anything like that. It’s just you and your own game.
“Top seven, that’s the goal and I just want to focus on the process to get there and forget previous years.”
Holmey plays under the Dutch flag but lives in France so is enjoying the French atmosphere.
“It’s always good being sort of at home and Montauban is a place that I like coming back to and I like everything surrounding the tournament, so I’m having fun just being here.”
Holmey tees it up at 12:15am alongside Germany’s Leonie Harm and England’s Ellen Hume. For more information on the tournament, visit letaccess.com and follow @LETAccess on Facebook, Instagram and X – #Access2LET.
