Spain’s Maria Herraez Galvez has dominated on the Santander Golf Tour in recent months.
After winning the season finale in 2023, Santander Golf Tour- Valencia, Herraez Galvez has gone on to win two more tournaments this year including the doubles format tournament with friend Clara Young.
Now, Herraez Galvez is hoping for continued success on home soil.
“I think coming back to playing in front of a home crowd and having my family and friends come out and support, makes me happy.
“It makes me feel calm and relaxed for the week so now I’m hoping for some golf.”
At the end of 2023, Herraez Galvez built some great momentum and saw two-top 10s and two top-15s in the last four events but is yet to post similar results this year.
“I’ve had a rocky start to the season, I think we were expecting too much and maybe the head was not in the right place, but I believe that all the work we’ve done in the past couple months will take us to the right place.”
Of course, Herraez Galvez is keen for a strong finish, but she is determined to soak up enjoying playing in Spain.
“The main goal is to set targets for each day, stay in the present and commit to every round but not get ahead of myself.
“I think the course is a nice layout, it really makes you think and plan the next shot. Planning is going to be the key this week. I’m ready for it.”
Herraez Galvez starts her campaign for a third Santander Golf Tour title at 13:20 local time alongside Helen Briem and England’s Megan Dennis.
