English amateur Jessica Hall sits at the top of the leaderboard after play was suspended at 15:56 local time during the Allegria Ladies Open.
Hall teed it up at 8:09 from the 10th and had a slow start with two bogeys in her first four holes before bringing it back with a birdie on 14.
At the turn, Hall fired up the flatstick to card consecutive birdies on holes two, three and seven.
Speaking about her second round, Hall said: “I’m really, happy with the two days.
“My approach play to the greens was good. I set up a lot of chances and then made quite a few putts as well.
“I think this course does suit me because I’m not the longest hitter and around here you must pick and carefully choose your way around.”
Hall holds the record on LETAS for the number of times she has placed as the highest amateur. A feat she has achieved five times.
“It’s just great to be near the lead, really. Yes, it’s my first time ever in Austria and I like it though the country is very hilly.”
Hall is hoping to continue her fine form tomorrow.
“I will just go out there and enjoy tomorrow. It’s just another round of golf and let’s just see what happens.”
Three players are tied for second on three-under-par. Finland’s Elina Saksa and England’s Charlotte Heath and Gemma Clews all finished their rounds in the morning.
2023 LETAS graduate Clews had the strongest round of the day 66(-4) to climb up the leaderboard.
Speaking about her round, Clews said: “It was good. I mean, yesterday was tough. I wasn’t quite on it. And then today, was a sort of reset.
“I feel like you can go low on this golf course. So, I kept everything positive mindset wise and just took every shot as it came and just tried to not get ahead of myself and just go with go with the flow.”
Clews is accompanied by Mike Korver on the bag, fiancé to LETAS player Nikki Hofstede. The partnership is new for the season but seems to be working well.
“It’s going well. I like spending time with Mike. He’s great and Nicky as well. We just get on so well. He’s good. He’s a player as well so he knows his stuff, and I think we just gel well together as a partnership.”
Clews is ready for a chase tomorrow and is excited to be in the mix to earn her third LETAS win. The 30-year-old won back-to back victories, the first player on LETAS to do so at the 2023 and 2024 Smorum Ladies Open.
“I think the chase is obviously a bit more exciting. There’s almost less on the line almost especially mentally.”
Clews’ goal for 2025 is to gain back her LET card through LETAS and has set herself up in a strong position by currently sitting 21st on the Order of Merit.
“My mentality is a lot better than it was in 23. So, I’m just taking each week as it comes and sticking to all my processes. I just want to keep working hard with my team at home and just trying to enjoy every week.”
Home favourite Katharina Muehlbauer sits in solo fifth on two-under-par after a strong second round of 67(-3).
Sweden’s Isabella Deilert sits in sixth with five players tied for seventh, including LETAS Order of Merit leader Amalie Leth-Nissen.
Round two will resume tomorrow at 7am with the final round scheduled to begin at 11:30am with a shotgun start.
