Jenny Haglund
Jenny Haglund produced an impressive final round of 68 to take the title at the Norrporten Ladies Open at Sundsvall Golf Club in Sweden, with a total of 7 under par, 206.
The Swede started the final day four shots behind the overnight leader, England’s Charlotte Thompson, closing within two shots with an eagle on the par five 5th hole. Thompson recorded a double bogey on the same hole and this was the turning point in the tournament.
Haglund birdied the 7th to draw level with Thompson and felt that she was now in a good position to win for the first time as a professional.
“I didn’t really think about it at the beginning, I was just trying to hit my shots and then on five I made an eagle and she made a double so it all kind of all turned and I felt like, oh, I might have a chance. I kept on playing and made another birdie on seven and that’s when my momentum came and I felt like I had a chance to win, it was a fun day,” Haglund commented.
Thompson finished the day with a four over par, 75, to finish in a tie for third place at -4, 209, with Swedish amateur Tilda Larsson. Austria’s Sarah Schober also recorded a final round of 68, to finish in second place on her own at 5 under.
Belgium’s Laurence Herman completed the top five with a three round total of 210, 3 under par.
