France’s Sophie Giquel-Bettan won for the second time on the LET Access Series, claiming the Open Generali de Dinard title at Dinard Golf by one shot from Spain’s Virginia Espejo.

The final day’s play was full of twists and turns, with Eleanor Givens from England and Giquel-Bettan tying for the lead after ten holes. A string of five bogeys starting on the 12th and a double bogey six on the 15th hole saw the 26-year-old Englishwoman drop out of contention and finish in a tie for 5th place on a total of 210, three over par, alongside Spanish duo Carmen Alonso (71) and Maria Palacio (70), and Germany’s Isabell Gabsa (73).

Giquel-Bettan also stumbled on the back nine, with bogeys on the 11th, 13th, 14th and 15th holes before a birdie two on the par three 17th hole put the Frenchwoman back in a tie for the lead, alongside Espejo.

The Spanish player enjoyed a solid round, arriving at the final hole on a total of even par. After hitting the par four in regulation, the 25-year-old took three putts to complete the hole, handing the title to the experienced Giquel-Bettan, who finished with a solid par and a final round of 2 over, 71.

France’s Lucie Andre and Anne Van Dam from the Netherlands were two of only five players who break 70, in tricky windy conditions, to finish in a tie for 3rd place.

Top amateur honours went to Germany’s Olivia Cowan (71) and Sarah Schober (72) from Austria, who finished in a tie for 9th position, along with Italy’s Margherita Rigon (70), Michele Thomson (69) from Scotland and Swede Lynn Carlsson (74) on +4, 211.

The second Generali Ladies Tour event, the Open Generali de Strasbourg, will take place at Golf Club de Strasbourg from the 11 – 13 June and the LET Access Series moves on to the Ribeira Sacra International Ladies Open at Augas Santas Balneario & Golf Resort from the 29 April – 1 May.
