Getting to Know Nastja Banovec

Nastja Banovec from Slovenia is a rookie this year on the LET Access Series, Nastja turned professional before competing at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open and has her sights set high on a top 20 finish for 2017. We get to know Nastja with a few quick questions…

Who is your favourite golfer?

Seve Ballesteros.

What’s your favourite club in your bag?

My driver because I just love to smash the drive and also a nice approach shot.

What’s been your biggest golfing achievement of your career?

Winning the Paul Lawrie Invitational in 2015 as an amateur it came as a surprise as there was a player Laura Murray in the lead that day. I just thought to myself to go and enjoy it I played really good golf that day and fortunately won the event. The key for me that day was to trust my game.

Which is your favourite golf course?

I really enjoyed Terre Blanche as it was so demanding. My other favourite is Kings Barns in Scotland as its beautiful.

What is the one thing you could not live without?

Golf! I played many sports before but Golf just brings me so much joy.

Who do you most look up to?

My parents they helped me through a lot. I admire how they support me and raised me.

What is your favourite food?

A dish my mother makes its very unhealthy but I just love it, the dish is a Slovenian meal it is a stuffed chicken and potatoes.

How would you spend your perfect day?

Playing a really nice golf course finished with a walk on the beach and relaxing with friends and family.

Your favourite city?

Paris as it is the city of love.

Describe yourself in one word?

Enthusiastic.

What do you like doing except playing golf?

I like meditating and recently horse riding.

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?

Sydney, Australia.

What’s your best golfing tip for a beginner?

Don’t focus so much on the long game focus on the putting.

Do you have any superstitions before a round?

I used to now I just like to follow my routine. But the only thing I don’t like to see if a black Cat.

What is your most memorable sporting moment?

Being at the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, it was an amazing experience.

What’s in your golf bag besides golf balls and clubs?

Normal, nothing special.

What are your goals for 2017?

My goals are to do really well on the LETAS. Top 20 is my goal but I would love to get top 5 but I know it is really difficult.
