Laura Gomez Ruiz from Spain is a new LETAS member for the 2019 season. We catch up with Laura for a few quick questions…

Who is your favourite golfer?

On the women’s tour Azahara Muñoz is my favourite golfer. She is from my hometown and I have always looked up to her, she is my role model. On the men’s side my favourite one is Tiger Woods for making the greatest come back in sport’s history.

What’s your favourite club in your bag?

My driver, I trust it the most and I always choose it in case of doubt.

What’s been your biggest golfing achievement of your career?

Earning a full scholarship to play in a Division I University in the United States.

What’s your favourite golf course?

Guadalmina South Course

What is the one thing you could not live without?

My phone, I take it everywhere with me and I really think I could not live without it.

What is your favourite food?

I love Spanish food in general and Mexican food, specially Enchiladas! 

Who do you most look up to?

Azahara Muñoz and my parents! 

How would you spend your perfect day?

Wake up early in the morning, play 18 holes in less than 4 hours on a golf course with views to the beach, go eat somewhere with big portions of food and spend the afternoon at the beach.

Describe yourself in one word?

Golfer

What do you like doing besides playing golf?

Spend time with family and friends! 

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?

I have always dreamed to travel to Cancun. 

What is your most memorable sporting moment?

Winning my first professional event after playing 3 holes of playoff. I still remember the distance and the club I hit for each shot. 

What’s your best golfing tip for a beginner?

The key to success is your putting skills! Practice your putting more than anything.

Do you have any superstitions before a round?

I always go to the range to warm up exactly one hour before my tee time and I either warm up with the odd or even clubs but never mixing them.                                        

What’s in your golf bag besides golf balls and clubs?

Chapstick, sunscreen, food, rain gloves & old pin sheets (I always find at least a pair of them).

What are your goals for 2019?

To finish in the top 5 of the LET Access Series.
