Getting to Know Kim Metraux

Kim Metraux from Switzerland is a new member of the LET Access Series for 2018. Kim´s goal for this year is to progress onto the Ladies European Tour. We get to know Kim with a few quick questions…

Who is your favourite golfer?

My favourite golfer is Sergio Garcia.

What’s your favourite club in your bag?

At the moment my driver is definitely my favourite club in the bag.

What’s been your biggest golfing achievement of your career?

Getting the silver medal at the 2016 World Amateur Team Championships for Switzerland with a 3rd place finish as an individual.

Which is your favourite golf course?

El Camaleon at Mayakoba in Mexico

What is the one thing you could not live without?

It’s a tough call between pasta and music, but I think music.

Who do you most look up to?

My parents, they have always been extremely supportive in everything my sister and I do, and I hope one day I can raise children the way they raised my sister and me.

What is your favourite food?

Anything that is Italian makes me hungry! Especially veal Milanese with pasta!

How would you spend your perfect day?

I would play a round of golf with my boyfriend and my parents, then spend some time at home by the pool and eat outside in the evening.

Your favourite city?

Florence, but I love the area where I come from too!

Describe yourself in one word?

Cheerful

What do you like doing besides playing golf?

I like to spend time with my family, play the piano and play different sports like tennis or badminton.

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?

I would love to go back to Japan. I went there for the World Amateur Team Championships in 2014, but did not have the chance to visit much, so if I get the opportunity to go back I would definitely take the time to visit.

What’s your best golfing tip for a beginner?

Even if it is hard at the beginning to keep working because once you can hit the ball and play on the course, it is so enjoyable!

Do you have any superstitions before a round?

It isn’t before a round and I would not consider it a superstition, but I always have 3 tees in my pocket every time I play a competitive round, I guess it’s just a habit.

What is your most memorable sporting moment?

Holing a 12-foot putt on the 18th hole to get the silver medal at the World Amateur Team Championships in 2016, it  was a very intense moment and I will remember it for a long time!

Do you listen to music before your round?

Only on my way to the course in the car, but not when I warm up.

What’s in your golf bag besides golf balls and clubs?

Sunscreen, and some basic medicine, just in case…

What are your goals for 2018?

Get my card for the Symetra Tour and/or the Ladies European Tour.
