It’s a special week for Norway’s Michelle Forsland as she prepares to tee it up at this week’s PGA of Sweden Championship Landeryd alongside her partner and Cutter and Buck Tour player, Jarand Ekeland Arnøy.
The pair met in high school after they were both part of the same golf development program and have been together for 10 years.
This week is the first time they are playing at the same tournament, and the pair are excited.
Forsland said: “It’s very nice. Usually, we just meet up at home and then we travel different directions for a few weeks until we meet up again. So, it’s nice to finally, travel together, play on the same venues, and talk some strategies as well.
“We were lucky and are on the same side of the draw so that’s great that we can see each other between rounds and stuff, so that’s nice.”
Forsland and Arnøy have a different golf game but have the same opinion on the courses, with both preferring Landeryd Masters.
“They are two very different courses, but we like them both. So, I’m excited, to play them and see how it goes in the tournament when there’s some pressure.
“I’ll be fun. We’ll just see how the weather holds up. And, you know, if it’s a lot of wind on the links course, that that will be very interesting, but, yeah, it’ll be fun.”
Cutter and Buck Tour player, Arnøy said: “Well my strength is pretty much off the tee, and hers is around the greens. So together we would be great.”
Forsland added, “It helps us. We can lean on each other and ask each other for help and try to make each other better as well, it might be good in the long run that we both need different strategy.”
Speaking about what it is like to date a fellow professional golf player, Forsland said: “It’s 11 years ago since we met and then we’ve been dating for ten. So, it’s been a while and a lot of travel.
Arnøy added: “At least we don’t have anyone is waiting back home for us. We meet up when we can and we have a lot of respect and understanding for what the other person is doing.”
Forsland has had a slow start to the season with five missed cuts but is feeling positive.
“This season has been a little bit of a struggle, to be honest. I’m working on a few changes that are not totally visible yet in the results.
“Yet I’m positive on the direction it’s heading. So, give me a few more weeks and months, and I will hopefully give you a different answer.”
Arnøy tees it up at 7:30am tomorrow on Vasterby Links whilst Forsland is 11 minutes later at 7:41am local time.
