Italy’s Martina Flori is excited to play on home soil at the Lombardia Ladies Open.
The 26-year-old from Firenze, who turned professional in 2021, is looking forward to playing an LET Access Series (LETAS) tournament in front of a home crowd for the first time.
Speaking ahead of the week, Flori said: “I’m looking forward to finally playing in Italy. It’s the only event we have in our home country so I’m very excited and looking forward to it.
“It will be great to have a tournament in our home country. It feels very nice especially because we’re going to have friends and family coming out to watch us.”
Flori has high expectations for the week at Golf Club Varese and is relishing the home comforts that come with competing at home including the Italian food.
“It should be a very special and very fun week. Of course, it would be very nice and exciting to have my first professional win in my home country.
“That’s the goal but overall, I want to have fun and enjoy the week with my friends and family with me on the course.”
“I’m most looking forward to sharing the week with my closest friends and being able to eat some good Italian food whilst at the tournament.
It’s been a mixed season for Flori who has made five cuts on tour with a best place finish of T-32 at the Ahlsell final at Elisefarm.
Other highlights include a hole-in-one at the AMUNDI Czech Ladies Challenge.
“My season has been very long and tough. It’s my second season on tour and I’m learning a lot, but my game is getting better and better.
“I’m looking forward to next week and hopefully some good things can happen out there at Golf Club Varese.”
