FIVE THINGS TO KNOW AHEAD OF THE SMORUM LADIES OPEN BY EC DRIVE

Smorum

After a fantastic two weeks at Ramside Hall Golf Club the LET Access Series (LETAS) now returns to Scandinavia starting with the Smorum Ladies Open by EC Drive at Smorum GolfKlub.

Before the tournament gets underway, here are a few talking points to look out for….

Bigger Prize Fund

Back for its second year, the Smorum Ladies Open has increased its prize fund by 10,000 euros to a total of 60,000 euros.

This means the tournament has the second biggest prize fund on the LET Access Series schedule behind the Rose Ladies Open.

Danish Domination

So far, the 2023 winner’s circle and rankings have been dominated by the Danes, with LETAS rookie Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen becoming the one to watch out for after two wins already in Montauban and at the Capio Ogon Trophy.

Elsewhere, Denmark’s Fie Olsen shined at the Flumserberg Open whilst rookie Puk Lyng Thomsen took home the win in Vasteras in brilliant fashion.

Two other Danes, Cecilie Finne Ipsen and Natacha Host-Husted appear within the top-10 on the LETAS Rookie of the Year Rankings after impressive performances.

It seems the Danes are unstoppable and it will be interesting to see if one of them can take a win on home soil.

The Leth-Nissen Sisters

It will be a family affair in Smorum as two of the Leth-Nissen sisters (Cecilie and Sofie) prepare to tee it up at their home club.

Cecilie Leth Nissen and Amalie took this tournament last year by a storm when they came winner and runner up respectively.

Cecilie, the oldest sister, has had a strong year competing on LETAS as an amateur this season placing within the top-35 at all events she has competed at, with her highest finish at the Flumserberg Ladies Open- 13th.

Start Of Co-Sanctioned Stretch

The Smorum Ladies Open by EC Drive marks the start of a four-week co-sanctioned stretch of tournaments on LETAS with the Nordic Golf Tour.

The Nordic Golf Tour is a professional tour put together by the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish golf federations, as well as the PGA of Sweden.

It kicks off with the Smorum Ladies Open before the Tour heads to Sweden for the Big Green Egg Swedish Open at Varbergs Golf Klubb.

The Only Danish Professional Golf Tour for Women

The Smorum Ladies Open by EC DRIVE is Denmark’s only professional golf tournament for women.

A whopping 24 Danish professionals and amateurs will be competing in Smorum to try and maintain a win on home soil.
