Finnish Challengers Bid For Home Success

A field of 120 players from 22 different countries will compete for the 13th title of the season at the HLR Golf Academy Open, held at Hillside Golf Club, Vihti in Finland from Friday, 25th until Sunday, 31st August.

Thirty five Finnish players will feature in the field of competitors including Ladies European Tour professionals Linda Henriksson, Ursula Wikstrom, Elina Nummenpa and Noora Tamminen, and LETAS tournament winners Krista Bakker and Oona Vartiainen.

The 2015 LETAS season has seen a strong contingent of Finnish players challenge the order of merit with the following ranked within the top 25 of the current standings and all will be hoping to secure a home victory and progress in the rankings; Oona Vartiainen (4th), Krista Bakker(5th), Sanna Nuutinen (9th), Leena Makkonen(19th) and Annika Nykanen (21st).

The field will also feature order of merit leader Olivia Cowan from Germany who will be aiming for a record four wins in a single season on the LET Access Series. Other notable players include fellow German Isi Gabsa and Spanish amateur Natalia Escuriola, who will both be trying to close the gap at the top of the order of merit.

At the close of the 2015 LETAS season, the top five players on the 2015 ranking will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour, while players in 6th to 20th positions will have the opportunity to progress to the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School for 2016.
