Chloe Frankish
A strong field is assembled for the inaugural Lavaux Ladies Championship, which takes place from the 20 – 22 June at Golf De Lavaux in Puidoux, Switzerland. The event, promoted by Pitch & Play, is the sixth to be played on the LET Access Series schedule this year.
Leading the challenge is England’s Cloe Frankish, who is currently lying 6th on the LETAS order of merit. The Englishwoman has started her season strongly with top five finishes in the Jabra Ladies Open and last week’s AXA Czech Ladies Challenge. Frankish, in her second season as a professional, will be hoping to become the sixth first time winner this season.
Germany’s Laura Fuenfstueck will also be one of the favourites coming into this week. The young German won the South African Women’s Masters on the Ladies Sunshine Tour in February and has continued her good form into the LETAS season, with three top ten finishes this year.
Another player to watch will be Czech amateur Tereza Melecka, who finished in a tie for second place with England’s Inci Mehmet at last week’s AXA Czech Ladies Challenge, which was won by Spain’s Carmen Alonso.
Players from twenty-eight different countries will tee off on Wednesday, including thirteen competitors from Switzerland.
Golf de Lavaux is a technical course, which enjoys impressive views over Lake Geneva. Play will commence at 8.00 on Wednesday morning from both the 1st and 10th tees.
