EUM CHERISHES EXPERIENCE IN SWEDEN AND HOPES TO WRITE A NEW STORY

South Korea’s Nayeon Eum is continuing to ride a wave after her win at the Anna Nordqvist Västerås Open By SmartProvider.

The 27-year-old also had a top-10 finish at GolfUppsala Open the previous week and she will tee up at the Allerum Open on Tuesday.

Eum will compete alongside 109 other players from 23 countries for the purse of €40,000 from 17–19 August at Allerum Golf Club.

She said: “The course for this week is very tough compared to the last two events. You have got to have accuracy, distance and imagination around the greens on this week, really depending on the wind. I threw a banana peel into the wind yesterday and it even came back!

“After the win, hopefully I can write a new story from now on. Sweden has given me so much experience that I will take to the grave. Whatever is happening so far, I can’t complain and I’m absolutely enjoying every moment of being in Sweden and with my friends.”

Despite having just two starts on LETAS, the victory and top-10 finish has seen Eum catapult up to sixth place on the LETAS Order of Merit.

With six events remaining and the top six players on the Order of Merit securing their LET cards, Eum is excited for the challenge.

She added: “Getting the card would mean a lot to me as I had so many ups and downs with golf. I’ve been doing horse-riding since I was seven years old, so if I do secure the card for next year, it would feel like riding the best dressage horse in the world.”

Last week’s runner-up Lily May Humphreys of England admits her game is going in the right direction.

Humphreys, who sits top of the 2021 LETAS Rookie of the Year rankings and second in the Order of Merit, hopes to maintain consistency in the fourth Swedish LETAS event in a row.

My golf is getting better; it’s getting more to what I want. I was happy with my game last week; it was showing a lot of good signs throughout all rounds and hopefully I’ll be able to bring this forward for the Allerum Open and the next couple of weeks,” she explained.

The top 11 players on the Order of Merit will compete in the Allerum Open this week, promising a big race for the top spots in the rankings in the second half of the LETAS 2021 season.

Russia’s Nina Pegova leads the way with 1098.50 points with Humphreys in second on 959 points, while Sweden’s Sofie Bringner is not too far behind in third with 908 points.
