DEFENDING CHAMPION ERICSSON EXCITED TO BE BACK AT VASTERAS

Ericsson

Sara Ericsson secured victory last year when she won on the first extra hole in a play-off to secure her first LET Access Series (LETAS) title at the Vasteras Open by PadelPitch.

It was a nail-biting final day at Orresta Golf & Konferens last year where amateur Ericsson started the third round as the leader, one shot clear off her playing partner and later on her play-off opponent, New Zealand’s Hanee Song.

As the previous champion Ericsson is excited as she attempts to defend her title this week.

Speaking about the week, Ericsson said: “I am very excited for the tournament and especially to be competing home in Sweden.

“I love the fact that family and friends can be close watching!

“I have a lot of good memories from last year’s tournament, one of the most exciting one was playing the playoff for sure!

“Another one was the rain delay we had in the middle of the last round, and the nerves throughout the last nine holes after that.”

Admitting to feeling nervous, Ericsson wants to use this to her advantage.

“I love to play nervous because it’s when I know it’s for something big, also it’s the moments we all practice for so I’m hoping to be in a similar position this year!

“Of course, it is very exciting to try defending a title so that’s for sure what I aim to do this week.

Ericsson from Stockholm originally, currently attends Lynn University in the US where she majors in International Business Management.

“My season so far has been good; I’ve played very steady in the US where I just finished my third year at university.

“To win this tournament again would mean a lot to me, moreover, to be in contention in such a good event is always fun and that is what I play for.

“I love the competition part, and to finish at the top would be a bonus that shows the hard work behind it!

“I always think that Ahlsell Nordic Golf Tour and LETAS host very well together, everything is always very organized, and I really enjoy the events here.”

Ericsson tees off at 13:20 local time from hole one alongside the Netherland’s Pasqualle Coffa and Denmark’s Fie Olsen, who won the Flumserberg Ladies Open earlier this year.
