Daffinrud Poised for Second Win

                                                                                       Tonje Daffinrud

Norway’s Tonje Daffinrud extended her lead at the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies Open, after a second round 67 secured a three shot lead over Denmark’s Daisy Nielsen.

Daffinrud is looking for her 2nd victory in a row after winning last week’s Azores Ladies Open. The Norwegian hit 18 greens in the first round and her play during the 2nd round was equally consistent. She commented: “It was a good day, I gave myself many chances and made a few putts. I feel like I got more out of the round today so I am just really happy. Tomorrow I am just going to try and play one shot at a time, like last week, just don’t get caught up in the score. I feel really good so I am just going to stick to what I have been doing.“

Daffinrud’s playing partner, Daisy Nielsen shot a 68 on the challenging Crete Golf Course, with birdies on the 6th, 11th, 15th and 17th holes. Nielsen is currently lying in 5th place on the LETAS order of merit and looking for her first win on the Series.

France’s Melodie Bourdy also shot 68, three under par and 3rd place. The Frenchwoman is currently in 20th place on the LETAS order of merit and a solid finish this week would cement her position in the qualifying places for the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School.

England’s Georgia Hall, a recent winner on the LET Access Seies at the Open Generali de Strasbourg, placed herself within striking distance with a second round 69, to finish at 2 under par and fourth place.

France’s Astrid Vayson de Pradenne struggled early in her round with a triple bogey seven on the 361 yard par four 3rd hole. The Frenchwoman rallied to finish strongly with three birdies in her last five holes, for a two over par 73 and one under total for 5th place. Scotland’s Laura Murray shot an even par 71, to sit at level for the tournament and in 6th position.

Twenty-seven professionals and two amateurs made the cut, which fell at six over par. The final round will commence at 9.00am on Sunday morning.
