One and twenty-two players from 30 different countries will tee it up this week for the second edition of the Lavaux Ladies Championship, which takes place from the 29 – 31 May at Golf de Lavaux, in Puidoux, Switzerland.
Defending champion, Fanny Cnops of Belgium, although not enjoying the best start to her season since graduating to the Ladies European Tour, with her best performance in 2019 a tie for 36th place in the Terre Blanche Ladies Open in April, is looking forward to the defence of the title she won just 11 months ago.
“It’s always great to go back to where you’ve had success, so it’s really nice to have good vibes around you and I have good memories here so I’m excited.”
Cnops is conscious of what will be needed to defend her title with a major key accuracy from the tee.
“Definitely hitting the fairways, some holes are tricky off the tee but you’ve got to stick to your game plan and just be confident.”
Other players to watch this week will be England’s Hayley Davis, who finished runner-up at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open in April, and 4th in the VP Bank Ladies Open earlier this month. Belgium’s Manon de Roey has also started her season strongly, with a best placed tied 6th finish in the LET’s ActewAGL Canberra Classic and a tie for 4th in the LETAS VP Bank Ladies Open.
There are seven Swiss professionals competing this week and in addition, 11 Swiss amateurs, who will be trying to emulate their fellow countrywoman 17-year-old amateur Elena Moosmann, who claimed the VP Bank Ladies Open title, beating Hayley Davis in the final day match play format.
Play gets underway on Wednesday morning at 8.00 from both the 1st and 10th tees.
