BRIEM HAPPY TO BE BACK ON LETAS AFTER FAIRYTALE ENDING TO AMATEUR CAREER

Rookie of the Year

It’s been a busy summer for Helen Briem as she prepares to return to the LET Access Series (LETAS) at the Ladies Slovak Golf Open.

After becoming the first player to win three LETAS events in a row, the German star headed to the European Ladies’ Team Championship where Germany triumphed.

Following the victory, Briem rose to number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and having achieved everything she wanted to in her amateur career, she decided to turn professional.

Having had a few quieter weeks, the 19-year-old returns to LETAS this week but reflects on a very special summer.

“It was awesome,” said Briem. “From almost winning on the LET to then winning three LETAS events in a row.

“Winning the European Teams with my friends to becoming world No. 1 and then being able to turn pro as world no. 1.  It barely could have got any better! Of course, it was a great ending to my amateur career.

“Since then I played the National Team Championship for my home club and went to a tournament with my sister and of course, there’s been some practice in between.”

The teenager made history back in June when she won three consecutive LETAS events – something which had never been done before.

Briem also sat at the top of the LETAS Order of Merit with the top seven gaining their LET card for 2025 at the end of the season.

With Kajsa Arwefjäll’s recent victories, the German star now sits in second place with 1500 points to her name.

Despite having turned professional, the three-time LETAS winner is going to continue with the same mindset this week at Tale Ski Golf & Hotel Resort.

She continued: “Up till now nothing has changed for me and I am just trying to keep the mindset I always had.

“I have never been to Slovakia before, but I am really looking forward because it’s in the mountains and it’s also a ski resort.

“On the other side of the valley, there is an Alpine Skiing World Cup Venue so we’ll see whether I can add one more to my list of slopes and venues that I visited so far.”
