Bourdy and Ramsay tied at the top

                                                     Melodie Bourdy

France’s Melodie Bourdy and Swede Isabella Ramsay opened with impressive 67’s to tie for the lead at 5 under par, after the first round of the Royal Belgian Golf Federation LETAS Trophy at Rinkven Golf Club.

Bourdy, who narrowly lost out in a two-hole play-off to fellow Swede Emma Nilsson at last week’s Pilsen Golf Challenge, started her round solidly, with six straight pars on the challenging, parkland course. The Frenchwoman birdied six of her final twelve holes, with just one bogey blemish coming at the par three 11th hole.

Ramsay, who currently leads the LETAS Order of Merit, scored three birdies on each nine and like Bourdy, recorded just one bogey, coming on the 343 yard par four 12th hole.

Sweden’s Emma Westin, a winner on LETAS earlier this season at the Sölvesborg Ladies Open hosted by Fanny Sunesson, is lying in third place on her own after an opening 68 (-4).

England’s Abbey Gittings and Scot Laura Murray are a further shot back at 3 under par, in a tie for fourth position.

The leading Belgian player is amateur Elodie Van Dievoet from Golf de Riginee, who shot a first round of 73, 1 over par to be tied 16th.

Round two of the Royal Belgian Golf Federation LETAS Trophy will start at 8.00 tomorrow morning, with a cut after 36 holes to the top 40 professionals and ties.
