Lina Boqvist
Sweden’s Lina Boqvist won for the first time on the LET Access Series, with a victory on the first play-off hole at the Onsjö Ladies Open.
On a final day, which mixed rain showers with sunny spells, Boqvist fought her way to the top of the leaderboard with four birdies in her final eleven holes. Her playing partner, fellow Swede Lynn Carlsson had the opportunity to draw level on the final hole with a birdie, which she duly converted.
Both players matched each other with two perfect drives on the first play-off hole, the par four 345 metre 18th, with their approach shots both finishing within 5 metres of the flag. Boqvist, the first to putt for birdie holed out, putting the pressure on her fellow countrywoman. Carlsson missed her birdie chance and the trophy and title belonged to Boqvist.
Spanish amateur Luna Sobron, who will represent Spain in the World Amateur Championships, which start in Karuizawa, Japan on the 3 September, will be delighted with her form this week. Sobron shot a final round course record 66, 6 under par, finishing with four birdies in her last four holes.
Norway’s Cecilie Lundgreen shot a closing 70, 2 under par, to finish in fourth place and Swede Johanna Bjork also scored a final round 70 to finish a shot further back at 1 under par and fifth position.
The current leading LET Rookie of the Year, Scotland’s Sally Watson finished in 6th place at even par. Watson will head home to Scotland to compete in the LET’s Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scotland Open presented by EventScotland at Archerfield Links in East Lothian.
The LET Access Series will move to Finland next week for the HLR Golf Academy Open, which takes place from the 29 – 31 August at Hillside Golf & Country Club, near Helsinki.
